Spurs Have League's Best Record, No, Really, they Do

The Boston Celtics had a 14-game winning streak. The Miami Heat haven’t lost a lot of games since November. The Los Angeles Lakers seem to be the class of the Western Conference. It’s an unlikely team that holds the best record in the NBA. At 27-4, the San Antonio Spurs hold the distinction of the best NBA record. They downed the Lakers on Tuesday night, a third straight loss. Tony Parker scored 23 points. DeJuan Blair added 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Spurs.

The Spurs are seen as a team that’s too old and cannot stay on the same talent level as the Lakers, Heat or Mavericks. Tim Duncan’s always led the team, but he was a complete non-factor in the win over Los Angeles. He only had two points. Parker proved he’s still an elite NBA guard. The team has one of the most impressive starts in NBA history. Richard Jefferson loves playing in the Gregg Popovich system. Kobe Bryant struggled against the Spurs.

He was seething after losing two consecutive home games. He came out and tried to win the game by himself, but he missed 13 consecutive attempts at one stretch during the game. The Spurs stymied tehe rest of the Lakers, frustraging Bryant all day. Ron Artest and Andrew Bynum each had 10 points for LA. Popvich is one of the most respected coaches in the NBA. He does a great job getting the other players ready to win basketball games. He understands that defense wins games and waiting for the open shots usually go in. Look out for the Spurs, they could wind up among the NBA’s elite all season.
