Twitter Hate
Fuels James' Desire
| Author: Michael Licata |
| Date: 10/19/2010 |
The King is vulnerable. LeBron James is feeling
pain after his decision to play for Miami was
broadcast live on ESPN. He’s long been the best chance
for a championship in Cleveland. They were suppose to
win a few with James as the center piece. It didn’t
happen and he was heavily criticized for the way he
chose to announce his signing with the Miami Heat.
In response to his critics, James took to Twitter to
re-tweet some of the hurtful and racist things being
said about him. He responds like any other high
profile athlete, by stating the words don’t phase him.
He’s ready to play this season. He can say one thing
for the media, but the knowledgeable fan understands
negative feedback is a great motivator. He’s going to
hide his true feelings from the fans. He wants to
prove detractors wrong. It’s human nature.
The Miami Heat come into the season with the loftiest
expectations since the Jordan Era. Can three of the
top players in the NBA team up to win a championship?
There’s a thousand similar questions surrounding the
Heat entering the season. Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh
proved to be great supporters on the court during the
2008 Olympic run. The three haven’t spent a lot of
time on the court during the preseason. James is the
one that should help the team win the championship for
himself and Bosh. James doesn’t really need extra
motivation, but the hate and anger from Twitter can
certainly help fuel the fire of his first
championship.
