James Adds to Cleveland Misery History

LeBron James loves criticism. He enjoys it so much it drives him to win basketball games. It showed this past Thursday with the shellacking he put down on his former team. The Miami Heat thoroughly dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 118-90. James scored a season-high 38 points against the Cavs. It was his first return to Cleveland since the James’ announcement to leave Cleveland for Miami. The crowd was hostile, booing James every time he touched the ball. It didn’t matter. Maybe the Heat should bring a hostile crowd everywhere they go just to motivate the King.

I’m a fan of adrenaline-filled emotions and big time performances on stage. Why can’t he do that every night? There’s no sense of urgency in James game right now. He’s going to learn how to play with those other guys. Why can’t he bring that same intensity into every game? The Heat seem to start turning it around. The Cavs are the ones that looked truly foolish. They joked and messed around with their former teammate during timeouts and before tip off.

I don’t fault the Cavs for doing this. It shows that athletes care more for themselves and former teammates than they do for the fans. The Cavs were unprepared for James’ departure. They need to reorganize and find a new face of the franchise. It’s going to take some time, but they’ll get back to where they were with James. Cleveland fans suffered through a lot of misfortune, whether it be Jordan against the Cavs, the Drive by Elway or the Fumble. They’ve suffered more than most fans. It continued on Thursday night. It’s going to get a lot worse when they see the Heat put a championship banner some season soon.
